“Cumbria have used the services of AFTA Thought so that staff can really understand what it means to apply the Mental Capacity Act and the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards. We’ve asked them to present to multi-agency groups, to groups of care home managers and to carers, and in all of those situations they’ve enabled us to have the conversations that we actually wanted to have. The Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards can be a very dry and difficult subject to explore in a training room but the actors and the scenarios means that everyone stays awake and the penny drops about what this means back in their own workplace and with their own practice.”
