Safeguarding Children in Early Years and Schools
The recent Serious Case Review into the abuse of children at Little Ted's nursery in Plymouth once again highlights the potential for any setting to create the conditions in which perpetrators find opportunities to abuse.
Sadly the SRC found the same, familiar gaps that compromise the ability of organisations to be safe places. Key indicators such as: informal recruitment processes; lack of induction and supervision; personal friendships compromising effective management; inappropriate conversations in the workplace; and an inability for staff to be able to raise concern or challenge the behaviour of colleagues.
Everybody knew there was a problem but nobody did anything. Our Safeguarding training sessions remind delegates of their individual power to ensure that there is no place left in their organisation for perpetrators to gain access to, or abuse, children.
