June Updates - Personalisation and Safeguarding Children in Early Years

AFTA Thought have continued to be busy throughout the month of June delivering a diverse programme of work that has included Personalisation in social care, and Safeguarding Children in Early Years provision.

Local Authorities continue to roll out the Personalisation agenda and AFTA Thought have been part of that process for a number of different clients. In North Lincolnshire the focus was on raising awareness for service users and for carers, in addition to getting across the key messages to staff. In Liverpool staff are now focusing on the role that Peron Centred Plans can have in transforming what services can offer to local people in need.

Carers Together in Redcar marked National Carers Week with a celebration event that AFTA Thought were delighted to be a part of. Based around the theme "A Life of My Own", our actors demonstrated the positive impact that personalisation is bringing to carers, particularly around the area of personal budgets.

Alongside the benefits that Personalisation is bringing are the increasing concerns about how to ensure that people remain safe within it. In-Control hosted a national event in London to explore how safeguarding issues need to be considered even when individuals are exercising their right to independence.
