Care and Supervision Proceedings

Concern about court appearances associated with Care and Supervision Proceedings can deter social work students from choosing to work in children's services.

Liverpool Community College contracted AFTA Thought to develop a way of demonstrating how to take the fear out of being cross examined by barristers. Students became aware of the relevance of many aspects of day to day duties when it comes to giving evidence at final hearings. The session was developed alongside family law barristers and practicing social workers to ensure that it was reflective of current cases and practice.
